Pastors & Staff

Angel Esquivel

Lead Pastor

Pastor Angel is married to Laura. Together they have three boys, Josiah, Julian, and Gabriel. Angel grew up in the Tri-City area before serving as a youth pastor in Oak Harbor, WA. In 2011, Angel and Laura relocated back to the Tri-Cities where they planted New Life Church in Pasco, WA. In 2017, New Life Church merged with Columbia Foursquare Church to form HOPE Tri-Cities. Angel enjoys hiking, reading, Thai food, and taking his family with him on new adventures.

Bob Horn

Executive Pastor

After 27 years of ministry on the west side of the state, the Lord transplanted us 222 miles to the Tri-Cities in September, 2019. My wife, Susie, and I love the sunshine, the people, and the pace of life. When I'm not spending time with the people of HOPE, you can find me coaching or working out at my CrossFit gym or running or hiking. We have two young adult children, Kyle and Bethany. Kyle is here with us in Richland and Bethany and her husband, Kayler, live in Olympia.

Random Fact: I will never turn down a drink from Roasters Coffee.

Angie Martin

Assistant Pastor / Celebrate Recovery

Angie is the Assistant Pastor at HOPE along with being the Celebrate Recovery Pastor. She loves to encourage others, pray for them and celebrate what God is doing in their lives. Seeing people walk in freedom and grow in their relationship with Jesus is her passion. Married to her high school sweetheart, David, for 30 years, they have 5 kids. She enjoys spending time with her family and loves her Seahawks!--

Laura Esquivel

Worship Director

Laura is HOPE's Worship Director and is married to Pastor Angel. In addition to leading our worship community at HOPE, and raising three young men—Josiah, Julian, and Gabriel—Laura is on the staff of Rescue:Freedom where she gets to combine her passion for hiking with her heart to mobilize people in order to rescue those trapped in sexual slavery—doing what she loves to fight what she hates.

Susie Horn

HOPE Kids Director

Though a newcomer to the Tri-Cities in September of 2019, Susie is a seasoned Children’s Ministry leader. She has served as a volunteer and been on staff for the last 30 years working with kids from birth-sixth grade for 3 different churches in Bellevue, Olympia and Bothell, WA and now calls HOPE Tri-Cities home.

Her experience includes planning weekly classes, special events, co-directing summer kids’ camps and VBS. Susie has a heart for leading kids in worship and encouraging them to discover, follow, and live like Jesus everyday. She has also enjoyed being a Preschool teacher where her planning and creativity came to life, providing safe and fun learning environments for the kids in her daily care.

She supports our goal at Hope by encouraging and supporting the spiritual development of families at home.

Susie is enjoying getting to know the people and places in the TriCities along with her husband, Bob, HOPE Tri-Cities' Executive Pastor. Spending time with their young adult children, Kyle and Bethany, is one of their favorite things.

Twana Butkus

Family Care Director

I have served in many different roles in ministry over the past 40 years. I even had the opportunity to travel to 17 different countries as a missionary to spread the Good News. In this season of my life, I have the honor of serving HOPE as the Family Care Director. I enjoy being the hands and feet of Jesus to this family.

Hannah Skaanland

Finance Director

Hannah is married to John and together they have four children, Jameson, Liam, Eleanor, and Walter. Hannah enjoys canning, running, and travel.

Aleena Lujan

Young Adults Pastor & Worship Ministry Assistant

Since being a recent graduate from Life Pacific University with my bachelor’s degree in Communications and doing a summer internship with Hope Tri-Cities, I have discovered that I am called to minister and empower the church. During my four years at Life Pacific and a couple years at two different discipleship programs including Youth With A Mission, God has been developing and shaping my love and passion to encourage the church to be desperate seekers after God’s heart. I am passionate in helping and encouraging young people and worship leaders to grow in discipleship and intimacy with God, as well as providing space for them to practice their spiritual gifts.

After living in major cities in Oregon and California I have become quite the foodie and I LOVE trying new foods. I appreciate a cup of coffee from a small business, discovering new music, a good find at a thrift store and going for a walk during sunset. I enjoy the little things but especially with good people.

Random Fact: I tried out for The Voice after I graduated high school.

Alina Tkacz

Celebrate Recovery & Local Outreach Ministry Assistant

I love being outside, being artsy, active and goofy. I am the middle child of nine kids, an 9 on the Enneagram, who never wants to stop learning or falling more in love with Jesus! What I love about the Tri-Cities are the sunsets and walking along the Columbia River. One of my favorite verses is Hebrews 10:23-24: "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds..."

Kristine Brines

Video & Lighting Director

I was born and raised on the West side. I migrated to the Tri-Cities about seven years ago after graduating culinary school when a job and family called, and have rarely looked back (I'm one of those who LOVES the rain). I married my best friend last year, so I've been settling into married life during quarantine. When I'm not working you can usually find me at the dog park with my two furbabies, or in my backyard crafting.

Jose Mora

Youth & Communications Intern

I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Transformational Ministry at Life Pacific University. This past summer I did an internship at HOPE getting experience in all areas of ministry. I was invited to stay for my fall semester interning specifically with the Youth and Communications ministry. I love seeing people of all ages light up about Jesus and wanting to learn more about Him. When not working, you can find me hanging out with friends or doing homework at coffee shops.
Random Fact: I am an Enneagram 6 wing 7.
